Children’s Privacy Notice
This privacy statement amends our Privacy Practices and includes extra information on how we collect, use, and disclose personal information from students under the age of thirteen (a "Child" or "Children"), as well as how we protect such information.
American Islamic School is committed to Student’s privacy
The privacy of children is particularly essential to American Islamic School, which places a strong emphasis on it. As a result, we developed some elements that are intended to assist in the protection of personal information pertaining to children ("Child Users"). In the event that we get a new account from American Islamic School, we send a teacher to update the legal guardian ("Parent") associated with the new account. Even though American Islamic School uses “My Quran AIS” for educational purposes inside its own walls as part of its curriculum, American Islamic School must get parental permission before collecting information from students under the age of 13 or older than 13.
Please refer to the section under "Learn More" for more information on:
We do not track or advertise to children.
We do not use third-party tracking or targeted advertising.
We do not allow children to use or register for our Service.
We do not place restrictions on accounts for child users.
We do not collect or use information about children.
We do not disclose information about children.
How Children can use and register!
American Islamic School's support staff will assist users in establishing an account so that they may access our material and complete activities. If users do not establish an account, they will have restricted access to some features.
Without the permission of a parent and the school, American Islamic School does not knowingly allow Child Users to establish an account on our website. Upon becoming aware that personally identifiable information of a Child User has been acquired on our Service without the permission of the Child User's parent or school, American Islamic School will take the necessary measures to remove the information. We ask that you contact American Islamic School immediately if you find that your kid under the age of 13 has created an account with our Service without your permission. We will then remove that child's personal information from our databases.
A Child User may register for an American Islamic School Account with the permission of their parents.
When a Child User registers for our Service, we ask for the following information: a username, birthdate, password, and the email address of the Child User's Parent so that we may contact the Child User's Parent to get authorization for the Child to use the Service. Neither American Islamic School nor its affiliates will ask the Child User for any information other than that which is required for the provision of the Service to the Child User or the solicitation of parental permission. Parents must submit an online request through the American Islamic School website during the course period in order for their children to have access to the My Quran AIS Service. Once the Child User's Restricted Account has been closed, the Child's personal information is deleted from our systems, and we do not use the information.
We trust the school to provide permission when they establish a child user account.
In an educational environment, in which the School may set up Child User accounts and get permission from the Parent of the Child User for School to gather personal information of the Child User, the My Quran AIS Service will be utilized by the American Islamic School. In the instance where schools are creating user accounts this way, we have chosen to proceed with the assurance of permission offered to us by the American Islamic School.
The many methods of obtaining parental permission
Parents must submit a request to utilise the service via My Quran AIS and will be provided with a parental portal of the school ERP system, which will allow them to monitor the actions of their kid or children. A Child User's parent or guardian may, however, provide their permission for that child to access the Service via a Restricted Account by replying positively to an email sent by American Islamic School to the parent or guardian's email address that was given by the Child User during registration. Unless we obtain permission from the Parent within 7 days, the Child User's account will be cancelled and the Child's personal information will be removed from our systems (American Islamic School does not give any access to the child/children). User accounts that have been restricted will not be able to use MY Quran AIS; instead, they will be banned or removed from our system.
Parent accounts
If the Parent wishes to enable additional functionality for the Child User account as well as complete access and control over the Child User's account activity, he or she must use the account provided by the school (because it is an ERP system, the parent will be able to monitor the activities that have been completed by the teacher and students). If a parent wishes to give an update or status report on their children's activities, the American Islamic School support staff will be glad to do so at any time throughout the course of study. Parents may request that their child's account be terminated at any time by contacting the school's administration, and the support staff at American Islamic School will take the required step within 48 hours of receiving the requested termination. Although the School may in certain instances retain administrative authority over the account, such as the power to change or cancel the account, this is not always the case.
Restricted Accounts for Student Users
It is the goal of American Islamic School to prevent a Child User from accessing certain functionalities that may result in the exposure of the Child's personally identifiable information. A Restricted Account restricts the sharing and publishing of personal details about the student user in a variety of ways, depending on the setting.
Among other things, a student user with a Limited Account is unable to:
Adding or editing personal information connected with a Limited Account is permitted only under certain circumstances.
Participate in public community forums or ask questions or provide answers on assignment.
American Islamic School may send you emails or other forms of communication (all emails are sent to the Parent email on file).
In addition to a username and Service use activity, students may communicate with or exchange personal information with instructors (i.e. assignment completion, assignment status etc.). Teacher User accounts are similarly restricted in that they cannot interact with a student user except to assign material to the student User's account.
What information we collect from a Child User, and how we use this information
When a Child User joins for the Service, we collect the following information: the student user's username, birthday, and the Parent's email address, as well as any other personal information that the parent adds to the Student user's account, as stated above. We get information regarding a Child User's usage of the Service from him or her (assignment completed). Information about a Child User that we share with third parties
Restricted Accounts, as previously mentioned, have restricted information-sharing possibilities due to their restrictive nature. Upon adding a teacher to the Child User's account, the username and progress information, as well as any personal information the school has contributed to the Child's profile, are shared with the instructor. Additionally, schools may enable additional information sharing features through a school account with parental consent. These features may include, for example, adding profile information and permitting that information to be shared with Teachers and other users, or enabling the Child User to post content (for example, questions and answers) to the Service. It is the responsibility of the school to be aware that a Child User may publish personally identifiable information in free-form material on the Service, and it is the responsibility of the school to monitor the Child User's postings and remove personal information if necessary. Furthermore, as stated in Sharing and disclosure of information, we may share the personal information of Child Users for commercial reasons, such as marketing.
There will be no third-party tracking or targeted advertising
Neither American Islamic School nor any of its affiliates engage in targeted advertising on the Service. Children's personal information is not shared with third parties for the purpose of direct marketing or for the purpose of targeted advertising. In addition, we take measures to prevent third-party ad networks from appearing on sites that include student directed material or when a Child User registers into a restricted account on our website or our ERP (School Management Software) system which is provided by the school.
Find out how to log into your children's accounts, make changes, and remove them
Parental management over information on your student user is available in the “student profile” area of your parent account, which may be accessed via the Agua section of your Parent Account. If you do not want your child's personal information to be collected or used in the future, you may request that your Child User's Account be deleted by contacting the support staff or sending an email from your registered email address to Contact Us. Please keep in mind that you must first remove the account of your Child User before you can delete the Parent Account.
Please contact us at our Contact Us page if you do not have a Parent Account linked with your Child User's Restricted Account and would want to get access to or deactivate the Child User's account. Please keep in mind that you will need the Child User's login, and we may take further measures to verify your identification before granting you access to the restricted account.
Occasionally, the American Islamic School retains administrative authority over your account, including the power to change or remove it, and you will need to request to the School. Please get in touch with us if you need more information.
